What's New For the 2019 Toyota Land Cruiser?

Land Cruiser is Toyota's flagship, full-sized SUV. Much of the vehicle's design is shared with models dating as far back as 2008, but 2016 was the last time a majorly overhauled design was introduced. The 2019 model remains unchanged from the previous model year.

Amazing Features

There is only one trim level available on the 2019 Land Cruiser, but amenities abound, and there is plenty of customization available. Buyers can select from black or brown interior leather with wood trim. A generous 9-inch LCD touchscreen is the center of the infotainment system, which includes navigation and Bluetooth device connectivity. The premium steering wheel is leather-trimmed and heated, and features controls for the audio system. Speaking of audio, Land Cruiser comes standard with a 14-speaker JBL Synthesis audio system - including an 8-inch subwoofer and a powerful 605-watt amplifier. Front seats are heated and ventilated, while the second-row seats include heat as well. 28 vents are located throughout the cabin, and the four climate zones ensure that you and your passengers remain comfortable. A rear-seat DVD entertainment system, which includes two 11.6-inch screens behind the driver and passenger seats, is available.

Engine and Performance

Land Cruiser's commanding presence is backed up by a confident 32-valve V8 engine, which puts out 381 horsepower and 401 lb.-ft. of torque. Technology such as intelligent dual independent variable valve timing helps optimize power throughout the RPM range, giving you the most power and capability. In addition, the 2019 Land Cruiser's drivetrain includes an automatic 8-speed electronically controlled intelligent automatic transmission. Shift logic is adjusted automatically according to throttle input, vehicle speed, and incline. This ensures efficient power delivery, no matter what the driving conditions are. If you prefer to shift manually, a sequential shift mode gives you the option. True to the Land Cruiser tradition, the 2019 model employs an independent double-wishbone suspension with coil springs and stabilizer bar located up front. There's also a 4-link rear suspension complete with another stabilizer bar and semi-floating axle.

Safety Systems

The 2019 Land Cruiser comes standard with an advanced airbag system. With the number of airbags numbering ten, included are driver and front passenger seat-mounted and knee airbags, second-row outboard seat-mounted airbag, and roll-sensing side curtain airbags. Also included is the Star Safety System, which is an advanced safety suite including vehicle stability control, active traction control, 4-wheel anti-lock brakes, electronic brake force distribution, brake assist, and smart stop technology. In addition, a blind spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert are standard. Steel beams are located inside each door, with the goal of absorbing energy and reducing the chance of intrusion in the event of a side-impact collision.
