What's New for the 2022 Toyota Highlander?

The 2022 Toyota Highlander is a comfortable and stylish yet practical SUV that families love. For the current model year, the Highlander gets a mild makeover in several areas making it even more appealing to a broader audience. The most notable change is the addition of a new Hybrid Bronze Edition with two new exterior colors, Cement and Wind Chill Pearl, and 8-inch bronze wheels. Starting with the XLE and higher trims, buyers will get a height-adjustable power front passenger seat.

2022 Highlander Trims and Features

You'll have a wide choice of trims, starting with the base L trim and moving up through the LE, XLE, XSE, Hybrid XLE Bronze Edition, Limited, and Platinum. A hybrid powertrain is also available in the LE, Limited, and Platinum Trims. Standard on all Highlander models are four drive modes, LED lights, three-row seating, a power-adjustable driver's seat, push-button start, and five USB ports. Infotainment includes an eight-inch touchscreen with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Amazon Alexa. The Toyota Safety Sense suite with various driver assistance features is also standard. The special Bronze Hybrid Edition comes with a geometric interior with bronze detailing and illuminated bronze-colored doorsill protectors. For a touch of luxury, choose the Limited or the Platinum trims.

Buyers will get a solid driving experience with the Highlander. It comes standard with a 295 HP 3.6-liter V6 gas engine paired to an eight-speed transmission with 263 lb-ft of torque. You'll also have a choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. This engine has an EPA-rated city/highway fuel rating of 21/29 (FWD) and 20/27 mpg (AWD). The hybrid powertrain also gives you a choice of front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive while featuring a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder gas engine and dual electric motors for 243 HP. A Continuously variable transmission (CVT) pairs to the powertrain.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has awarded the Toyota Highlander with a five-star safety rating.
