What's New For the 2021 Toyota RAV4?

The RAV4 Hybrid adds another trim this year, the XLE, and a new RAV4 Prime plug-in hybrid model debuts. The plug-in produces more power than the standard and hybrid RAV4 models, and it has an impressive 42 miles of range on electric power. The only change to the standard gas-only RAV4 is that Blizzard Pearl replaces Super White as a paint option. Otherwise, it continues to offer the same features, performance and looks that have continued to make it a standout among its peers.

2021 RAV4 Has Abundant Features

There are a some differences between each RAV4 trim and you may want to compare them to see which RAV4 lineup fit your needs. There are six trims produced in the RAV4 for 2021. LE, XLE, XLE Premium, Adventure, TRD Off-Road, and Limited. The RAV4 Hybrid has five trims: LE, XLE, the new for 2021 XLE Premium, XSE, and Limited. RAV4 Prime comes with two trims, the SE and XSE.

The trim lineup is similar for the RAV4 and RAV4 Hybrid. The LE trim comes in the RAV4 and RAV4 Hybrid and shares most of the features in both. It comes standard with LED headlights and a seven-inch infotainment system with smartphone pairing, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The SE is the base trim on the Prime. The RAV4 SE includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration, heated front seats, a power liftgate, and all-wheel drive. Back row USB ports are included in the XLE on the RAV4 and the Hybrid, and a power-adjustable driver's seat.

The RAV4 XLE Premium is a new trim for the Hybrid for 2021, including 18-inch wheels, a sunroof, and simulated leather upholstery. The sporty XSE in the RAV4 Hybrid includes black-painted 18-inch wheels, two-tone paint with black trim, and a partial digital instrument cluster. On the RAV4 Prime, the XSE is the top trim and includes a two-tone roof (black), paddle shifters, and a wireless charging pad. The RAV4 Adventure trim has hill descent control, taller roof rails, and fender flares, and the TRD Off-Road comes with unique blacked-out accents and an off-road suspension. The top RAV4 trim, Limited, adds more to the XLE Premium features list with heated front seats, a premium 11-speaker JBL audio system, and a navigation system.

2021 Toyota RAV4 Horsepower

The base engine for the 2021 RAV4 is a 2.5L four-cylinder gasoline engine that produces a little over 200 HP. This engine has an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is available. The Hybrid adds one electric motor to produce 219 HP. Three electric motors are added to the base gasoline engine in the Prime, which has a greater power output of 302 HP.

Toyota RAV4 Safety

All RAV4 models have the same basic safety set: lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation, traffic sign recognition, and automatic high beams. Hill descent control and blind-spot monitoring are added to the higher trims.
