What's New For the 2021 Toyota Corolla?

Although the Toyota Corolla has been around for many years, the 2021 sedan may be the best version yet. The newest Toyota Corolla comes packed with many more features and amenities than its predecessors. This year, consumers can look forward to more standard and optional features, including the addition of Android Auto as a standard amenity on all trim levels.

The Corolla family is also expanded this year with the addition of the Apex Edition, which is a sportier variant complete with a sport-tuned suspension and summer tires. Always a leader in safety technology, Toyota also equips the 2021 Corolla with side airbags in the rear seat to give back-seat occupants the greatest degree of protection in the event of a crash. Another notable addition to the Corolla in 2021 is start-stop technology for the engine. More amenities are standard and optional by the trim level.

2021 Corolla Trims & Features

There are seven trim levels offered in the Corolla family for 2021, including a hybrid model. The base Corolla is called the L. Even though it's the entry-level sedan, the L comes with many standard and optional features. This trim level is outfitted with an integrated backup camera, a safety feature ordinarily reserved for upper-level models. You'll also get Toyota's Connected Services feature that provides the L with added safety technology and a WiFi trial. A seven-inch touchscreen with Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and Apple CarPlay is included. The exterior design consists of a black front grille with a sporty mesh insert and 18-inch wheels.

The LE gets a larger eight-inch display screen and a remote keyless start. A multi-information display screen is added along with the primary display screen in the hybrid model. The hybrid gets LED lights in the back along with the front. Larger 18-inch wheels and a custom gray-metallic front grille come standard on the SE. The SE is also available in a Nightshade Edition with unique blacked-out exterior elements. The XLE has upgraded features with heated seats, and the XSE adds a sunroof.

2021 Toyota Corolla Horsepower

The 2021 Toyota Corolla is offered with a choice of traditional and hybrid engines. The traditional gasoline engine is a four-cylinder engine with a 1.8L capacity, outputting 139 HP. It is matched to an automatic transmission. The hybrid has a separate engine with a gasoline engine and an electric motor. The SE gets a more powerful engine with a 2.0L, four-cylinder engine. This trim's engine produces nearly 170 HP and over 150 LB-FT of torque.

Toyota Corolla Safety

All versions of the 2021 Toyota Corolla come with the Toyota 2.0 Safety Sense package. The safety sense suite of driver aids includes lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and forward-collision warning. Adaptive cruise control is standard on the higher-level Corolla trims.
