2021 Toyota Avalon

What's New for the 2021 Toyota Avalon?

Arguably the best large sedan in its class, the Toyota Avalon straddles the line between entry-level luxury and premium quality. It is offered as a hybrid model in addition to the original gasoline version. For the 2021 model year, the Avalon gets Android Auto smartphone integration as a standard feature, and you can get the vehicle with all-wheel drive and a fuel-sipping 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. Also, Toyota introduces the XSE Nightshade package for the gasoline-powered version to make the exterior look more aggressive with black accents.

Which Features Are Available for 2021?

The 2021 Toyota Avalon gasoline model is available in five trims: XLE, XSE Nightshade, Touring, Limited, and TRD; the hybrid variant is split into XLE, XSE, or Limited trim levels. Each model has a pair of synthetic leather seats, with the front seats having eight-way power and heating ability. Also standard is a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The XSE is upgraded with perforated synthetic leather-and-suede seats, and the Touring gains active sound control, front-seat cooling, rear-seat heating, and driver-seat memory. The luxury-oriented Limited welcomes genuine leather seats. Red contrast stitching, aluminum pedal covers, and trim-specific badging are exclusive to the racing-optimized TRD.

The Entune multimedia system on the Avalon uses a 9-inch touchscreen to integrate features such as eight speakers, an AM/FM radio tuner with HD Radio technology, Bluetooth hands-free phone calling and audio streaming, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, three months of SiriusXM Radio, Amazon Alexa for virtual assistance, five USB ports, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Other comforts and convenience features include proximity keyless entry, push-button engine start, a dual-zone automatic climate control system, an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The XSE trim level welcomes a moonroof, a garage-door opener, and wireless charging ability. The Touring is bolstered with the addition of a 10-inch head-up display and the transformation of the Entune navigation system with a 9-inch touchscreen navigation system and a 14-speaker JBL sound setup.

Toyota Avalon Powertrain and Its Performance

If you go with a gasoline-powered Avalon, expect a 3.5-liter V6 that puts out 301 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque and is pinned to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Paddle shifters are added on the XSE and higher for increased gear-shifting convenience. A 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an output of 205 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque, as well as an all-wheel drivetrain for better traction performance, are available on the XLE and Limited. The Avalon hybrid relies on a drivetrain that combines the previously mentioned 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, two electric motors, and a continuously variable transmission for an output of 215 horsepower.

Technologies To Keep You Safe

Driver assistance on the 2021 Toyota Avalon consists of the Toyota Safety Sense P (TSS-P) suite, a blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert, and a rearview camera. If a crash occurs, the car can deploy any of its ten airbags.
