Changes for the 2020 Toyota Prius come primarily in the form of technology and safety. This year, all trim levels of the Prius are equipped with more safety amenities than before. All trim levels also now get the Star Safety system with electronic and mechanical safety amenities such as vehicle stability control and tire pressure monitoring. All trim levels of the 2020 Prius are equipped with an advanced airbag system and seat belts as well.
Technology gets a slight upgrade this year because a seven-inch infotainment display screen is now standard across the board. Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Amazon Alexa are also standard features that you can look forward to with the latest Prius. The Prius still gets exceptional fuel economy this year, and its outward visibility is among the best you'll find in a hybrid vehicle. The 2020 Prius comes in several trim levels with many options for a custom finish.
The 2020 Toyota Prius is available in six trim levels. The base model is called the L Eco. Its standard interior features are designed to inspire, entertain, and impress. Even at the base level, you'll get plenty of standard technology such as a seven-inch infotainment center with Amazon Alexa and Apple CarPlay compatibility, along with dual USB charging ports in the back row. The Toyota Prius features a Safety Connect system and a Safety Sense package at the base level with several driver-assist safety tools. You also get 24-hour roadside assistance.
The base trim comes with many eco-friendly features as well, including a lightweight hybrid battery. The LE, which is the second trim, gets sonar-controlled parking assist sensors. It also gets more safety technology, including rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot monitoring. The XLE adds larger 17-inch wheels with a bold and memorable alloy finish. Heated front seats made of a SofTex material are other notable highlights of the XLE. It also gets an eight-way adjustable driver's seat and a four-way adjustable passenger seat with lumbar support. Wireless charging comes standard on the XLE.
The Limited gets all the above features plus an adaptive front lighting system, a premium JBL sound system, and a larger 11.6-inch infotainment display. The LE and XLE both come in an all-wheel-drive edition as well. The LE AWD-e has two-tone wheel covers, integrated fog lights, and accent lighting. The XLE AWD-e gets wireless charging, heated seats, and premium seating materials.
In 2020, all trim levels of the Toyota Prius have the same mechanical system that includes a gasoline engine and electric motors. The gasoline engine produces just over 95 HP on its own. Combined with the electric motors, it generates more than 120 HP. An automatic transmission is standard on all Prius trims, and some come with all-wheel drive.
Along with airbags and seat belts, all trims are well-equipped with safety features. This includes the Toyota Safety Sense package of innovative features such as forward collision avoidance, lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, and more. Blind-spot monitoring is standard on higher-level trims.
