2020 Toyota Avalon

What's New For the 2020 Toyota Avalon?

The Toyota Avalon got a significant redesign for the 2019 model year that improved the car, inside and out. 2020 is the first subsequent rollout of that upgrade, so the basic feature set of the Avalon has not changed. However, Toyota has added a new sporty trim level, the TRD, which has several performance boosts like a better suspension and brakes. It also has a sleeker exterior, and it sits right in the middle of the trim offerings.

2020 Avalon Trims & Features

There are five total trims for the 2020 Toyota Avalon. The XLE is the basic trim, and it has plenty of tech and safety with synthetic leather interior, WiFi, and smartphone connectivity. The XSE adds suede and aluminum, wireless charging stations, and a moonroof that was optional on the XLE. The TRD is the performance, as mentioned above, trim. The Touring is a more luxurious version of the XSE with heating and ventilation in the front seats, improved suspension, and an upgraded sound system that was an option on the XLE and XSE. Finally, the Limited swaps out the enhanced suspension on the Touring in exchange for a leather and wood interior.

How Much Power Does the Toyota Avalon Have?

All five of the trims on the 2020 Avalon use the same engine, a V6 with 301 horsepower and an automatic transmission. It gets outstanding speed and acceleration for the class, and the handling is also excellent. It's excellent value for money when a car in this price range has such an excellent standard engine because typically, you'll need to pay for a costly optional upgrade to get this level of performance. The fuel efficiency is also excellent at 32 MPG on highways and 22 on city roads.

Toyota Avalon Safety at the Forefront

The 2020 Avalon is loaded with safety tech that all comes standard, like blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. As with the engine, usually, at least some of this technology is an optional upgrade. Toyota calls most of these features its Toyota Safety Sense P suite, and the Avalon has the whole collection.

When it comes to options, the available choices mostly relate to parking, not safety per se, except for rear cross traffic braking.
