What's New for the 2020 Toyota 86?

The 2020 Toyota 86 has received a number of updates for the new model year. The 86 now supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Also, the Toyota 86 comes standard with an updated 7-inch infotainment system. New for 2020 86 is the Clari-Fi technology on the standard sound system. Clari-Fi allows for a better, fuller sound from compressed music. Finally, the 86 offers a new TRD package as an available option.

2020 86 Trims & Features

There are three trims available for the 2020 year: the 86 base model, 86 GT and the new 86 Hakone Edition. You have a choice of over six exterior paint colors for the Toyota 86 base model and GT. The Hakone Edition, however, only comes in Hakone Green. Some highlighted features of the Toyota 86 include LED projector-beam headlights, LED rear combination lights, auto-dimming rearview mirror and 17-inch alloy wheels for performance. When upgrading to the GT, you'll get features such as an upgrade to 18-inch split-spoke alloy wheels with Michelin® Pilot® Sport 4 tires, Smart Key System, dual-zone automatic climate control, and matte black rear wing. Both the base model and GT trim levels have the option to add the TRD Handling Package. This package gives an additional boost to the thrill of the ride with SACHS dampers and Brembo brakes.

Lastly, in the Hakone Edition, you will find features exclusive to this trim, such as the "86"-debossed accessories. Also, while the Hakone Edition is only offered in one exterior color, it is beautifully paired with 17-inch bronze alloy wheels, Black Alcantara interior with tan leather trim, and two-stage heated sport front bucket seats.

2020 Toyota 86 Horsepower

The 2020 Toyota 86 comes with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that offers up to 205 horsepower with an automatic transmission. The manual transmission variant puts out 200 horsepower. 0 to 60 miles per hour time on the 86 coupe is rated at 6.7 seconds. The 2020 86 can come to a complete stop, from 60 miles per hour, in 165 feet.

Toyota 86 Safety & Technology Features

All Toyota 86 models come with the Star Safety System that includes an advanced six-airbag system, Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS), LATCH child seat anchor system, vehicle stability control, and Hill Start Assist Control (HAC). Other notable safety features for the 2020 Toyota 86 are the auto theft alarm, engine immobilizer, Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), and Smart Stop Technology (SST).
