The engine is paired with a five-speed automatic shiftable transmission. You have a choice of rear-wheel drive, part-time four-wheel drive, or full-time four-wheel drive depending on the trim level you select. The 4Runner's engine provides a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds on all trim levels.
