What's New for the 2019 Toyota Corolla?

The 2019 redesign of the Toyota Corolla is one of the biggest in the model's history. This is a totally redesigned vehicle inside and out, so ignore everything you thought you knew about the Corolla. A redesigned interior with bright and splashy colors gives it a bit of extra life, while an eight-inch touchscreen dominates the center console. It's a new look for a well-regarded commuter car, one that's definitely a step above what most were expecting.

New Console and Exciting new Interior Features

The 2019 Corolla comes in two separate trim packages. The first, the SE, has the new console, cloth seats, and a six-speaker audio system. The second, the XSE, has a lot more working for it. It includes leather-trimmed seats, bigger wheels, fog lights, blind spot monitoring, and even satellite radio. If you want to spend a bit more, you can get wireless phone charging added on to the XSE trim.

Strong Performance Under the Hood

2019 Toyota Corolla Passenger SideThe new Corolla has a 1.8-liter 4 cylinder engine that puts out about 132 horsepower. It's not the most powerful engine on the market, but it is remarkably fuel efficient. At an estimated 36 highway miles per gallon, it's easily competitive with most similar models on the market. You can upgrade to a 2.0-liter engine with 168 horsepower, but you're still looking at more of a daily driver than a high-performance car. Fortunately, it is available in both manual and automatic transmission styles and functions reliably for both commuters and those who are driving long distances.

TSS-P Provides Innovative Safety Technologies

2019 Toyota Corolla Rear Folding SeatsThe 2019 Toyota corolla includes TSS-P, this suite of safety technologies help make the road much safer. These include not only standard features like front and side-impact airbags, but a bevy of newer features that really do make drivers much safer while they're on the road. These features include forward collision warning, active lane control, and even sign detection. Those are all standard inclusions, too - you won't have to upgrade to the higher-level trim just to get a safer ride.
