New Enhancements & Trims
The standard version of the Highlander comes in six trims this year: LE, LE Plus, XLE, SE (all-new), Limited and Limited Plus. The 2017 Toyota Highlander Hybrid in Dallas gains new LE and XLE trims that now sit alongside Limited and Limited Platinum models.
Highlander SE
The new SE grade comes with a dark-painted front grille, sporty suspension, black leather-trimmed seats with silver stitching, 19-inch wheels and roof rails. It also seats seven passengers.
Highlander Hybrid LE
The LE, as offered on the hybrid, is fitted with 18-inch wheels, a six-speaker sound system, tri-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry/ignition, adaptive cruise control and Bluetooth.
Highlander Hybrid XLE
A power liftgate, leather seating, satellite radio, heated seats, a sunroof and navigation can be found on the hybrid's XLE trim.
New V6 Engine
A new V6 engine is offered on all models of the standard Highlander aside from the LE. The 3.5L displacement delivers 295 horsepower and 263 lb.-ft. of torque, and is supported by a six-speed automatic. The LE gets a smaller 2.5L four-cylinder, generating 185 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. of torque.
The hybrid model also packs the new 3.5L V6 along with an electric motor. They combine to produce 306 horsepower, and deliver an EPA-estimated 29 mpg combined, 30 city and 28 highway.
Safety Tech
Toyota Safety Sense P is standard on the Highlander. The package comes with everything from Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist and Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection to Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Automatic High Beams. Highlighted in several 2017 Toyota Highlander reviews, these systems improve safety across the lineup.
