Standout Trims & Amenities

As previously mentioned, the Avalon comes in five trims: XLE, XLE Plus, Premium, Touring and Limited. The XLE and XLE Plus are considered base models and offer everything from adaptive cruise control, dual-automatic climate control and keyless entry to voice controls, Bluetooth, navigation and smartphone integration, depending on which one you choose.

The XLE Premium takes it up a notch, adding a sunroof and an auto-dimming rearview mirror, or you can move on up to the Touring to take advantage of LED headlights and taillights, a sport-tuned suspension and 18-inch wheels.

All Limited models receive automatic wipers, a rear power sunshade, ambient cabin lighting, tri-zone automatic climate control, an 11-speaker JBL audio system, leather seating and heated rear seats.

Powertrain Options

A 3.5L V6 engine, which generates 268 horsepower and 248 lb.-ft. of torque, is fitted on the powerplant. A six-speed automatic transmission is matched to the engine and helps the car go from 0 to 60 mph in 6.4 seconds. On top of this perk, the 2017 Toyota Avalon in Dallas delivers an EPA-estimated 24 mpg combined, 21 city and 30 highway.

The Avalon Hybrid comes with an electric motor, a Synergy Drive system and a four-cylinder engine. They combine to output 200 horsepower, and help produce an EPA-estimated 40 mpg.

Safety Technologies

For the first time, Toyota's Safety Sense package is standard on the Avalon. Noted in many 2017 Toyota Avalon reviews, the package comes with forward collision warning, automatic high-beam headlight control, automatic pre-collision braking, lane departure warning and intervention, and adaptive cruise control. Aside from these driver-assist technologies, the sedan is fitted with 10 airbags, antilock brakes, traction control and stability control.
