The 2014 Sequoia arrives at Dallas Toyota dealers sporting the new Entune infotainment system. In essentials, Sequoia is the same strong full-sized truck-based SUV Consumer Guide praised in last year's Toyota Sequoia review, declaring "Sequoia stacks up well against its rivals. We appreciate its strong engine, comfortable seating, large cargo hold, and surprising maneuverability."
Sequoia seats up to eight people, seven when you opt for second-row captain's chairs. You'll enjoy quite a comfortable ride with four-wheel independent suspension. Available air suspension with auto-leveling feature will smooth out even the worst sections of Dallas-area road construction or semi-maintained back roads encountered on weekend forays. Bring friends or extended family along, because unlike some competing SUVs, Sequoia's third-row seats comfortably accommodate adult passengers. The Sequoia Platinum has standard second row captain's chairs while the SR5 and Limited are equipped with split and fold-flat second and third row seats. Such configurable seating makes it easy to augment Sequoia's cargo area as needed.
If 120 cubic feet of cargo area behind the front row is still not enough, a properly equipped Sequoia will tow up to 7,400 pounds, powered by the standard 381-horsepower, 5.7-liter V-8 engine with 6-speed automatic. All three 2014 Toyota Sequoia models - SR5, Limited and Platinum - are available in either rear-wheel or four-wheel drive and include such standard features as triple zone auto climate control, power windows and door locks, multi-function remote keyless entry and 12V auxiliary power outlets in front and in the cargo area. Also included is Toyota's Entune with touch-screen interface for Bluetooth phone and music streaming, plus USB and auxiliary audio input connections. Options include Entune Premium with navigation and multi-app suite; a rear-seat Blu-Ray entertainment system; front and rear parking sensors; and blind spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control proactive safety features.
