Chinese lanterns have long symbolized good fortune and it has become an ancient tradition to light these lanterns in a group setting, where they are launched into the air for all to see. This practice has spawned numerous festivals over the years, and on November 19, 2016, one of these signature events, the Lantern Fest, will take place in Ennis at Texas Motorplex.
Held in various locations across the U.S., The Lantern Fest attracts thousands of people each year. During the event, guests can enjoy stage shows, live music, balloon artists, s’mores and so much more. Once the sun goes down, everyone gets together to light their lanterns and launch them into the air, creating a beautiful spectacle in the night sky. Some wish for good fortune, while others participate to celebrate the lives of loved ones.
Registration for this year’s Ennis event is open online now and we encourage those interested to sign up as soon as possible to avoid price increases. If you’re planning on bringing your RV to The Lantern Fest, there are also overnight RV spots available for purchase. On the day of the event, gates open at 1 p.m., so be sure to arrive on time to get a good spot and don’t forget to bring chairs, a blanket and a jacket. Trust us, you’ll be glad you did!
