The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has graciously presented seven Toyota models with Top Safety Pick awards for 2017. Out all the automakers to receive the coveted Top Safety Pick accolades, Toyota earned the most. This marks the third consecutive year the brand has come out on top of the pack.
“At Toyota, our focus remains on the safety and peace of mind of our customers,” said Dino Triantafyllos, Toyota’s North American Chief Quality Officer. “We are proud that our commitment to developing safe and reliable vehicles resulted in such a strong showing in 2017 TOP SAFETY PICK+ awards.”
It takes a “good” rating in all five of the IIHS’ crash tests, a “superior” or “advanced” rating for a car’s front crash prevention system, and quality headlights to earn a Top Safety Pick+ rating. The 2017 Toyota Prius, Corolla, Camry, Prius v, and RAV4 were able to meet these requirements and surpass the competition.
Aside from these models, the Toyota Yaris iA and Avalon each received Top Safety Pick ratings for their safety features and amenities.
