
Last year marked a new production record for Toyota with 2,035,028 vehicles and 1,933,702 engines manufactured in North America. Low fuel prices, a healthier economy and strong customer demand are credited for the uptick in manufacturing.
“Our products are a direct reflection of our team members’ dedication and talent,” said Jim Lentz, CEO of Toyota North America. “Each vehicle that rolls off the line is an example of our commitment to safety, quality, value and above all our relentless focus to exceed customers’ expectations.”
Currently, Toyota produces 14 models in America including: Avalon, Camry, Corolla, Highlander, RAV4, iA, Sequoia, Sienna, Tacoma, Tundra, Venza, Yaris and other models; and provides 40,000 jobs to workers in the U.S. as well.
Other notable Toyota milestones for 2015 include the following:
• Texas: manufactured its 4 millionth vehicle
• Alabama: increased V6 engine production and produced its 4 millionth engine
• Mississippi: produced its 500,000th Corolla
Toyota is also gearing up for the following 2016 milestones:
• Anniversaries for Ontario (30), Kentucky (30), Indiana (20), West Virginia (20), Alabama (15) and Mississippi is set to celebrate its five year anniversary.
• Toyota is also scheduled to break ground on its 15th state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Guanajuato, which is set to begin Corolla production in 2016.
