When the Toyota Prius debuted nearly 20 years ago the world had never seen anything quite like it. Bold, fun to drive and wonderfully efficient, the Prius marked a whole new way that consumers looked at their cars. For 2016, the Prius is entering its fourth generation; a new incarnation that continues its legacy as a leader in the hybrid car market.
The fully redesigned Prius takes on a sleek and modern design that builds on the hybrid’s infamous style. The new version of the car also provides an even more comfortable and luxurious interior, as well as even more efficient changes under the hood.
What‘s new for 2016?
For starters, the Prius has been built on an all-new platform that is both lighter and smaller than its predecessor, while a new thermal-efficient internal combustion system and new higher-energy batteries have also been added.
On the outside, the Prius gets a sleeker, more athletic design that sees a lowered roofline, as well as bold lines across its front fenders. The hatchback also gets a lower rear spoiler that offers even more aerodynamics. Rounding things out for this model year are new LED headlights and a new exterior color (see above): Hypersonic Red.
Inside, the Prius gets a new interior that is more expressive and offers greater utility. New features include a wrap-around dash, a Premium trim option, form-hugging seats and a wider instrument panel.
