The Toyota Camry and the Toyota Sienna have just been named the most American-made cars in the U.S. by Cars.com. The automotive website's American-Made Index is an annual survey that looks at several factors to determine a car's "American-ness", such as the amount of domestic parts used in the car, whether or not the car was assembled in the United States and how many models of the car were sold in the U.S. The Camry and the Sienna met all of these criteria. The popular sedan is built at Toyota’s largest manufacturing facility in Kentucky, while the Sienna comes out of their factory in Indiana. Most of the engineering and design on both cars took place in the U.S.
Toyota North America CEO Jim Lentz said, “These results are a testament to Toyota’s continued investment and growth in the United States. We are strengthening our commitments to American manufacturing so we can better satisfy the needs of our customers for decades to come.”
This is not the first time that Toyota has been recognized by Cars.com’s American-Made Index, as the Camry has ranked number one on the index five times. This continued recognition is due in large part to Toyota's commitment to creating exceptional cars that offer luxury, utility and affordability to people around the county at it's 10 manufacturing facilities in the U.S.
