In celebration of National Women's History Month this March, the National Association of Manufacturers honored three of Toyota's engineers at their 2015 STEP Ahead Awards. The STEP Ahead Awards are annual prizes given out to women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Production (STEP) fields in manufacturing. This year's honorees are Toyota Auto Body California Production Manager Rhonda Gilyard, Toyota Technical Center Engineer Jackie Birdsall and Manufacturing North America's Stamping General Manager Susann Kazunas (pictured).
"Our STEP Award winners are the faces of exciting careers in manufacturing," said Jennifer McNelly, president, The Manufacturing Institute. "We chose to honor these women because they each made significant achievements in manufacturing through positive impact on their company and the industry as a whole."
Gilyard, Birdsall and Kazunas were all nominated by their peers for this year's awards in recognition of their achievements in their individual departments. Such achievements range from increased revenue and customer satisfaction to productivity improvements and employee development. Both Gilyard and Kazunas will be awarded the organization's STEP Award, while Birdsall is being recognized at the awards as an "Emerging Leader."
